In a strong acid environment and at a
certain temperature, the color developing agent reacts with nitrate ions to
produce a complex. The complex has maximum absorption at a specific wavelength,
and the content of nitrate nitrogen in the sample to be measured is calculated
by photoelectric colorimetry according to Lambert-Beer law.
